This year's championship is named in honor of Virginia "Ginger" R. Mulanax who passed away on Monday, August 19, 2024, while sleeping peacefully at Oak Knoll Nursing & Rehabilitation. She was born on January 20, 1944, in Parsons, Kansas, the daughter of Virgil and Thorine (Oaks) Pryor.

Ginger become a certified USA Track & Field official, focusing her energies towards racewalking and eventually gaining the experience and seniority to work the United States Track & Field Olympic Trials. As an important part of the racewalking and local track & field communities, she was a past President of the Ozark Association, building it into one of the top associations in the country. For her hard work, Ozark continually won national recognition within USATF as well as being awarded National meets: National Junior Olympic Cross Country, Open and Masters Cross Country, multiple USATF Juniors (U20), and multiple years of  D2  and NAIA Outdoor Nationals.  In our Association she ran the Missouri Milers Track Club, founded and organized the Racewalkers’ Club of St. Louis and the Ozark Officials. She was president of the Racewalkers’ Club of St. Louis for many years.
